1970 Chevy Chevelle LS6 Unearthed After 43 Years Of Sitting

It represents one of the best eras of American muscle…

In the field, surrounded by dense trees and rural lands, sits a barn filled to the brim with some of the nation's most excellent muscle cars. From Impalas to Volkswagen Beetles, the range of vintage sports cars is clearly vast, but there is one car that shines exceptionally bright to well-versed car guys. This incredible vehicle is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle whose engine bay is home to the highly desirable LS6 V8 engine. Needing no introduction, this powerhouse has quickly conquered the vintage muscle car industry with its superior power and high displacement. So it makes sense that this Chevelle would be such a joy to find.

This particular vehicle had been sitting in that barn for more than 43 years, with the last registration apparently being in 1979. While that might not mean it has been the barn for that time, we can reasonably assume it hasn't been driven regularly since then. Sitting on four jack stands, it appears the muscle car was due for some work that the owner just never got around to doing. This is understandable, as many of us have been over our heads with car projects. However, one thing that has angered some commenters on the video is his unwillingness to sell the car.

Across the body, there is virtually no rust, and the interior has been kept in pretty good shape outside of some minor tearing in the leather seats. Another cool feature is the presence of several modifications, including the inner fenders, which were reshaped for a set of headers. One of the neatest upgrades has got to be the Mickey Thompson valve covers which might seem trivial but clearly shows the vehicle's era. Without intentions to sell the car and a seemingly continuous delay in restoration, some could find something to be angry about with this vehicle. However, it is nice to see such a rare and desirable muscle car found in a place nobody expected, marking what may lead to a new life for the Chevelle soon. If something happens with the car, we'll be glad to see it, but if not, we can all enjoy this moment of reflection on one of America's best muscle cars.
